Circle’s cirBTC surpasses 5,000 issued tokens
Circle’s wrapped Bitcoin token cirBTC has grown from roughly 40 issued tokens in mid-August to more than 5,000 issued tokens. One update also places supply at 4,300 tokens backed by 4,448 bitcoin, with reserves above circulating supply and most tokens on Arc. The two updates show a fast buildout in issuance and a supply structure split between Arc and Ethereum.
What this rests on
What it means
Each sentence links inside to the piece that supports it.
Users and institutions using cirBTC notice a larger token base today, because issuance has moved from roughly 40 in mid-August to more than 5,000 tokens. That changes how much cirBTC is available across the networks where it exists, with most of the supply on Arc and the rest on Ethereum.
Before these updates, cirBTC could be discussed as a much smaller issuance; now the concrete picture is a token with thousands issued and reserves that exceed circulating supply. What stays the same is that the token is still described as wrapped Bitcoin, and the supply is still tracked against bitcoin reserves and network location.
Market reaction
The move was larger before the first headline than after. That is an observation, not an explanation: the market also moves on things nobody publishes.
How the story was built
Every piece in order, with the time its news medium declares — if it is not believable we use ours and say so — and what it added to what was already known at that point. Arriving first is not the same as adding something.
