Solana’s 150-millisecond settlement upgrade reaches second public test network
Solana’s Alpenglow upgrade is now live on its developer network, and a second public test network has also been switched on. The rollout gives application teams a place to test software before the live chain changes, while the upgrade targets much faster transaction settlement than the current system. One report also places the devnet handoff at slot 504,148,999 and says TowerBFT was replaced there.
What this rests on
What it means
Each sentence links inside to the piece that supports it.
Application teams are the immediate group that can notice this change, because they now have public networks to test against before the live chain changes. That matters for developers building on Solana today, since the upgrade is already active on devnet and testnet rather than only being described as a future plan.
In practice, the testing setup now includes Alpenglow on devnet and testnet, and one part of the network has already moved away from TowerBFT. What stays the same is that this is still a testing period ahead of mainnet-beta, so the live network has not been described as switched over yet.

How the story was built
Every piece in order, with the time its news medium declares — if it is not believable we use ours and say so — and what it added to what was already known at that point. Arriving first is not the same as adding something.
