Winklevoss-owned Gemini switches Zcash software ahead of faster 25-second blocks
Gemini said on September 29 that it migrated its Zcash infrastructure to Zakura, a Rust-based full node, ahead of Zcash’s planned NU7 upgrade. The exchange also said its Zakura nodes synchronized faster than Zebra during deployments, and that its earlier software took close to a day to catch up with the network.
What this rests on
What it means
Each sentence links inside to the piece that supports it.
Zcash users and Gemini customers are the main groups that notice this first, because Gemini has already moved the infrastructure it uses for Zcash. The exchange linked that move to the planned NU7 upgrade and to the proposed shift in block timing, so the practical change is in the plumbing behind Zcash access rather than in user balances or a new product.
Before this move, Gemini said its earlier software took close to a day to catch up with the network, while Zakura did so in just over six hours in its deployments. That changes what Gemini can run on its side today, but it does not change the network upgrade itself, which still depends on the planned NU7 process and testnet results.

How the story was built
Every piece in order, with the time its news medium declares — if it is not believable we use ours and say so — and what it added to what was already known at that point. Arriving first is not the same as adding something.
