Authors Pull Ethereum Staking Reward Burn From Hegotá
Ethereum authors withdrew EIP-8363 from the Hegotá upgrade process on October 1, 2026, so the validator-reward burn plan is no longer in the fork’s current scope. The proposal would have changed Ethereum’s issuance policy by burning part of staking rewards as more ETH entered staking. Its authors said discussion of Ethereum’s monetary policy will continue in a separate process.
What this rests on
What it means
Each sentence links inside to the piece that supports it.
In practice, Hegotá stays on its existing upgrade track without EIP-8363 inside it, while the broader question of Ethereum issuance moves to a separate discussion process. What changes is the venue and timing of the debate, not a settled policy outcome.
Market reaction
The move was larger before the first headline than after. That is an observation, not an explanation: the market also moves on things nobody publishes.
How the story was built
Every piece in order, with the time its news medium declares — if it is not believable we use ours and say so — and what it added to what was already known at that point. Arriving first is not the same as adding something.
