Litecoin Foundation signs MOU with Greywick Digital to bring cLTC to Canton Network
Litecoin Foundation and Greywick Digital signed a memorandum of understanding on October 1, 2026 to develop cLTC for the Canton Network. The project is described as a tokenized Litecoin asset aimed at institutional traders, with work taking place on Canton’s testnet and a launch expected by the end of 2026. Litecoin is also presented as having processed more than 417 million historical transactions since 2011, alongside a verified circulating supply above 77 million out of a fixed 84 million cap.
What this rests on
What it means
Each sentence links inside to the piece that supports it.
Institutional traders and firms watching Canton will see a Litecoin-branded asset moving through testnet work, with a launch window already set for the end of 2026. The main immediate change is that cLTC is being developed specifically for use on Canton rather than as a general Litecoin chain change, and the work is tied to the memorandum of understanding signed on October 1, 2026.
Before this, Litecoin was simply a long-running network; now there is a separate cLTC effort being built around the Canton Network and aimed at institutional use. The practical difference is that the asset is being shaped for that environment while the underlying Litecoin history and supply profile remain the same, including the network’s transaction count and fixed cap.
Market reaction
The move was larger before the first headline than after. That is an observation, not an explanation: the market also moves on things nobody publishes.
How the story was built
Every piece in order, with the time its news medium declares — if it is not believable we use ours and say so — and what it added to what was already known at that point. Arriving first is not the same as adding something.
