Ledger Launches Bitcoin Loans, Letting Holders Borrow Without Selling
- Published
Ledger introduced a Bitcoin-backed borrowing feature called Crypto Loan at TOKEN2049 Singapore. The rollout lets eligible Ledger Wallet users pledge wrapped Bitcoin or cbBTC in exchange for stablecoins, while keeping approval on Ledger hardware devices. One report says the product began a gradual rollout on Oct. 7, and another says the wallet app defaults to 50% loan-to-value with a 1% borrowing fee and liquidation risk on pledged collateral.

What it means
Ledger wallet users who qualify for the feature can now see stablecoin borrowing inside the app, with approval kept on a Ledger hardware device. That changes the flow for self-custody users who want to borrow against wrapped Bitcoin without moving away from the wallet environment. This affects users and the broader self-custody lending segment today, because the borrowing path is now inside Ledger Wallet and tied to Morpho and Yield.xyz.
