Ripple and C2FO said they will use the XRP Ledger and RLUSD to handle financing and settlement for C2FO Instant Pay. One of the new reports adds that C2FO has processed more than $250 billion in working capital through its early payment programs, while another says Ripple also expanded its custody arrangement with BNY to cover XRP and RLUSD.

What it means
C2FO runs a working-capital marketplace where buyers let suppliers take early payment at a discount, a model built because bank wires for invoice financing can take days to clear. Ripple has spent years pushing XRPL as faster settlement rail for enterprises, and RLUSD, its dollar stablecoin, now gives that pitch a compliant payment leg. BNY already acts as a reserve custodian for RLUSD, so folding XRP into the same arrangement extends an existing banking relationship rather than starting one.
Suppliers using C2FO Instant Pay can expect funds in seconds instead of the multi-day wait typical of ACH or wire transfers, freeing working capital tied up in invoice cycles. Treasury teams at participating buyers will need to hold or route RLUSD rather than relying solely on bank rails, while banks that previously processed those wire transfers lose a slice of settlement volume. Ripple gains a live, recurring use case for RLUSD beyond trading desks, something its stablecoin has lacked at scale.
Routing real trade finance through XRPL tests whether stablecoin settlement can displace correspondent banking in a business function that has resisted change for decades. It also sharpens a contradiction worth naming: BNY, a conventional custodian, now holds the keys to both XRP and RLUSD used in this 'ledger-based' settlement, which sits uneasily with any claim that the system removes trusted intermediaries. The trade-off is practical rather than ideological, speed and custody versus disintermediation, and Ripple is visibly choosing the former.
The announcement set October 27 as the start date for building out C2FO Instant Pay on XRPL, but no figures yet show how many suppliers or buyers have actually settled a payment under the new flow. Watch for Ripple or C2FO to disclose first transaction volumes and which buyers onboard initially, since that will show whether this is a pilot or a production rollout. The scope of the expanded BNY custody arrangement, including any disclosed asset limits, remains unconfirmed.
