Google Cuts Quantum Magic-State Errors 40-Fold on Willow
Google reported a 40-fold reduction in magic-state preparation errors on its Willow chip, with state fidelity reaching about 99.99%. One analysis then compared that kind of quantum progress with Bitcoin’s signature format, saying an ML-DSA-44 signature and public key would be much larger than a Schnorr signature and could add 917 virtual bytes per spend under current SegWit weight rules.
What this rests on
What it means
Each sentence links inside to the piece that supports it.
The practical difference from before is that the quantum result is now described as reaching about 99.99% state fidelity, which is the level quoted for the Willow milestone. That leaves the earlier assumption in quantum resource estimates in a different light, but the underlying estimates themselves are not rewritten in the piece.

How the story was built
Every piece in order, with the time its news medium declares — if it is not believable we use ours and say so — and what it added to what was already known at that point. Arriving first is not the same as adding something.
