Injective launches Super Intelligence Compute Index for AI compute trading
Published Updated 3 new reports since it was first published
Injective has brought its Super Intelligence Compute Index live onchain, turning AI compute rental rates into a tradable benchmark. The rollout also includes a perpetual market tied to the index, giving market participants a way to take exposure to the price of compute used for advanced AI workloads.
What this rests on
What it means
Injective has spent years building out synthetic and derivatives markets on its Cosmos-based layer-one, from pre-IPO stock perpetuals to tokenized real-world indices, positioning itself as the chain for onchain finance rather than general-purpose apps. Compute pricing has stayed offchain even as GPU rental marketplaces like Render Network and io.net grew around the AI boom. The Super Intelligence Compute Index extends Injective's pattern of wrapping a real-world price signal into a tradable derivative, this time for the hardware behind AI workloads.
Traders can now take a position on Nvidia GPU rental costs without renting a single server, using a perpetual market that Injective says carries up to 10x leverage. Companies running AI workloads gain a theoretical hedge against spikes in the five tracked GPU rates, while speculators get a new volatility instrument layered on top of a nascent, thinly documented market. Cloud providers and GPU brokers get an external price benchmark they did not build and do not control.
The product rests on a question Injective has not fully answered: who sets and verifies the rental rates for the five GPUs feeding the index, and how resistant that feed is to manipulation or simple data gaps. Tokenizing a real cost like compute is more defensible than another speculative token, but a benchmark is only as trustworthy as its oracle. Calling a GPU price feed 'onchain' does not by itself make the underlying data decentralized or auditable.
Injective has said a further onchain finance primitive tied to compute is coming in the days after this launch, which should clarify whether SICI is a one-off index or the base layer for a broader compute derivatives suite. Watch open interest on the new perpetual market and whether additional GPUs or cloud benchmarks get added to the index, since both will show if traders treat this as a genuine hedge or a short-lived leverage play.

How the story was built
Every piece in order, with the time its news medium declares — if it is not believable we use ours and say so — and what it added to what was already known at that point. Arriving first is not the same as adding something.

The plan is for staking rewards to flow back into the fund as more INJ. That's what makes it a staked ETF. It takes the same staking that secures Injective and puts it inside a fund structure.
