Bitget Wallet has introduced Virtual Account, a feature that gives users personal USD and EUR account numbers inside its self-custodial wallet. Deposits sent through bank rails such as ACH, Fedwire, SEPA, and SWIFT convert into USDT or USDC when they arrive.

What it means
Self-custodial wallets have long let users hold crypto but rarely linked that crypto to a bank account number. Fedwire, ACH, SEPA and SWIFT are the rails that move trillions between banks each year, and stablecoins like USDT and Circle's USDC have become the dollar proxies crypto users actually hold. Bitget Wallet's Virtual Account, built with licensed partner Noah, closes that gap by giving a wallet address its own routable bank account number for the first time at this scale.
A freelancer in Argentina or a contractor in the Philippines can now receive a client's SWIFT or SEPA payment directly into a wallet address and watch it land as USDT or USDC, skipping a local bank and a separate exchange deposit. That cuts out conversion steps that remittance services and card-linked crypto apps still charge for. Banks and money-transfer operators lose a sliver of that cross-border flow; Noah, as the licensed intermediary, inherits the compliance burden of KYC and sanctions screening on every incoming wire.
Calling a product 'self-custodial' while a licensed partner issues the account number and handles the fiat leg before conversion is a stretch worth noting: the user controls the resulting stablecoins, but not the bank rail that puts them there. That is the same tension running through every bridge between regulated banking and permissionless assets since the first crypto debit cards appeared. Convenience for the holder rests on trusting an intermediary's license, not on the trustless design stablecoins and wallets were originally built to avoid. (per cryptobriefing.com)
The test now is adoption and geography: which countries Noah can legally issue USD and EUR account numbers in, and whether Bitget Wallet's claimed 100 million users actually convert idle balances into recurring bank-to-stablecoin deposits rather than a one-time novelty. Competing wallets such as MetaMask or Trust Wallet adding similar virtual accounts would confirm this becomes a category rather than a single vendor's feature, and regulatory responses to Noah's licensing model will determine how far the rails can expand.
