Polygon expanded its Open Money Stack to Solana, giving Solana businesses a single payment path that links bank funding, stablecoin handling, cross-chain transfers, and payouts. The rollout also drew attention from Solana Foundation President Lily Liu and was framed alongside Polygon’s earlier Tron support and Coinme acquisition.

What it means
Open Money Stack is Polygon's payments layer, letting businesses route a bank deposit into a stablecoin balance and back out to a bank account without separately wiring custody, conversion and settlement. Before Solana, Polygon had already added Tron support and closed its acquisition of Coinme, the licensed US money-transmitter network that gives the stack dollar-leg access across the country rather than just a crypto-to-crypto bridge.
Solana-based payment apps and marketplaces no longer need separate banking relationships or custody providers to move dollars in and out of stablecoins; one integration now covers deposit, stablecoin handling and payout to a US bank account, with the dollar leg licensed in 48 states. Cross-border firm Kira is an early adopter, and similar fintechs building on Solana gain a compliance shortcut that previously only Tron- or Polygon-native projects had.
Polygon and Solana have spent years competing for the same stablecoin-settlement and payments narrative, so routing Solana flows through a rival's licensed infrastructure is a notable reversal; Lily Liu's framing of the network as 'unblocked' concedes that distribution now matters more than chain allegiance. The trade-off is that Solana's payment rails depend on Polygon's and Coinme's licensing stack, concentrating compliance control in one company rather than spreading it across competing providers.
Whether this becomes a working payments corridor rather than an announcement depends on adoption by firms like Kira and whatever volume moves through the Solana leg in the months after the October 29 rollout. Watch whether Polygon extends the same bank-payout licensing to additional chains beyond Tron and Solana, which would confirm Open Money Stack is becoming a neutral settlement layer rather than a Polygon-specific product.
