Derivatives and on-chain

Funding, open interest and liquidations, and what bitcoin holders and miners are doing.

  1. Funding and open interest

Funding rate is what traders on one side of perpetual futures pay the other every eight hours: positive means longs pay shorts, so the market leans long. Open interest is the value of all the futures contracts still open. You'll find both on the Markets page, under Derivatives, and as widgets.

    1. Point at Funding rate
    2. Then at the Open interest chart
  2. Liquidations and positioning

Next to them: futures volume, longs vs shorts, expected volatility, funding by coin and bitcoin liquidations, the positions closed by force when the price moved against them.

  3. Bitcoin on-chain

What holders, whales, miners and ETFs are doing. How long coins have sat still groups every bitcoin by how long ago it last moved: when the old share falls, long-term holders are selling. Each widget has its own range.

    1. Press 1Y
    2. Then All
    3. Point along the chart
